Background

Wasn't it beautiful, weren't we cool... Oh those days! We used to mix tapes for ourselves, our friends and... for the cutest girls whom we would impress with personalized tapes, full of music they didn't know yet. For hours we would lock ourselves in our rooms, alone with records, 12"-s, singles, a turntable and a tape-deck. A perfect mix of two times 45 minutes, and you will be remembered for ever!

Who does not remember the time 'auto reverse' was introduced? Wow! That was innovation! And innovation lasted: now we have Spotify! An online library with a wide range of artists and genres! And with the possibility to share it with your friends.

Concept

Strangelove (a creative advertising agency in Amsterdam) had the idea to ask music professionals to make a Mixed Tape - a playlist in Spotify. A very simple idea with a really nice result!

Spotify

You need Spotify to listen to the tapes.

Microove

Microove's a typical DJ that doesn't play for his public, but with his public. He always try's to feel the crowd, the club and the sound, so that he can play the perfect set considering those three elements.
Where his style was very eclectic in the beginning, now he tries to break the boundries between House and Techno using all his other music influences.
Almost all genres can have some kind of effect in his music, but not in an eclectic way. He's always sticking to that phat groove, pumping beats, snares and hi-hats. He creates grooves with loops of bass lines and other rides.
Sometimes the House overrules the Techno and sometimes it's the other way around.

In the year 2008 he did the Electronic Music Production at the School for Audio Sound and Engineering in Amsterdam. Since that time he's been busy trying to perfect his sound.
He try's to keep his productions as diverse in genres as possible, showing that he is a diverse artist. Although he always gives it, that: Microove, edge.
That's one of the reasons he became a new member of; 'Vassallo Bookings'.

#129 A bit different

by Microove

I made this podcast, to show that I have more to offer as a DJ then just a House or Techno set. I've always been a very diverse DJ and my preference of music has always been very eclectic. In this way I would like to show that to the public aswell. Hopefully you'll enjoy this slow BPM set!
