Background

Wasn't it beautiful, weren't we cool... Oh those days! We used to mix tapes for ourselves, our friends and... for the cutest girls whom we would impress with personalized tapes, full of music they didn't know yet. For hours we would lock ourselves in our rooms, alone with records, 12"-s, singles, a turntable and a tape-deck. A perfect mix of two times 45 minutes, and you will be remembered for ever!

Who does not remember the time 'auto reverse' was introduced? Wow, that was innovation! And innovation lasted: now we have online libraries packed full with a huge range of artists and genres.

Concept

Strangelove (a creative advertising agency based in Amsterdam) had the idea to ask music professionals to make a Mixed-Tape; a very simple idea with a really nice result. Via Spotify or Deezer, we ask music artists, record labels, DJ's and all types of creative like-minded people to put together a unique and personal playlist. Sometimes it can be related to a specific theme / event / launch, or maybe the complete opposite of what one might expect from a certain 'character'.

Spotify / Deezer

You need either Spotify or Deezer to listen to the tapes.

Studio 80

Mysteryland, the largest dance festival in Holland, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with an extra festive programme on Saturday August 24th. This means a number of new areas, including a Studio 80 stage!
The line-up is completely in Studio 80 style, one of the leading underground locations in Amsterdam. This year, they also finished in the top rankings of DJ Mag's Top 100 of best international clubs.
Almost all of the artists playing have already proved their part in the club on Rembrandtplein: Steve Rachmad, Cassy, 2000 and One, Heidi, Homework, Raaf and Bram Fidder. Only Tiga and Eats Everything will be making their debut on a 80-stage.

232 Hidden Gems by Sam Azami

by Sam Azami

The playlist I’ve put together mainly consists of a mixture of deephouse funk. I always look for those songs that seem timeless to me. Songs that you can play anywhere, anytime and that still have the same power you heard the first time you played it. I’m quite a “digger” for records, so you can say that there are a lot of hidden gems in this one, played by artists that I admire very much.

133 25 years EKKO Utrecht

by EKKO

Last year, we've celebrated our 25th anniversary as a venue for upcoming, talented music. With this mixtape, we'll let you hear some of the music groups and acts that played the EKKO in those 25 years. Some are intimate, others are loud and there's some electronic music on it, as well. Please enjoy, and hopefully we're able to make a new one in 25 years from now!

99 Celebrating life, one song at a time

by Gram

Seduction, attitude, and melodies that lodge in your head until you go to bed... Music is life, so get off that couch! These songs definitely kept me going while we were making the second Gram album 'Play Me'.
