Background

Wasn't it beautiful, weren't we cool... Oh those days! We used to mix tapes for ourselves, our friends and... for the cutest girls whom we would impress with personalized tapes, full of music they didn't know yet. For hours we would lock ourselves in our rooms, alone with records, 12"-s, singles, a turntable and a tape-deck. A perfect mix of two times 45 minutes, and you will be remembered for ever!

Who does not remember the time 'auto reverse' was introduced? Wow, that was innovation! And innovation lasted: now we have online libraries packed full with a huge range of artists and genres.

Concept

Strangelove (a creative advertising agency based in Amsterdam) had the idea to ask music professionals to make a Mixed-Tape; a very simple idea with a really nice result. Via Spotify or Deezer, we ask music artists, record labels, DJ's and all types of creative like-minded people to put together a unique and personal playlist. Sometimes it can be related to a specific theme / event / launch, or maybe the complete opposite of what one might expect from a certain 'character'.

Spotify / Deezer

You need either Spotify or Deezer to listen to the tapes.

John Coffey

John Coffey is a loud punk/rock 'n roll band from Utrecht, The Netherlands. Six months ago they released their successful second album Bright Companions on the German-based Redfield Records, in a sold out Tivoli in Utrecht. The album was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden with producer Pelle Gunnerfeldt (The Hives, Refused) and Jag Jago (The Ghost Of A Thousand) and very well received in the media. Bright Companions brings you a raw rock 'n roll/punk sound with catchy sing-a-long chorusses that will knock you off your feet. Known for their wild liveshows, John Coffey has a busy schedule touring Europe on the Bright Companions tour to bring their sound and feel to every willing soul out there!

190 The John Coffey Tourbus Experience

by John Coffey

John Coffey shows are known for their madness and the partying going on during the show. When we leave the stage, all pumped up and excited, the energy keeps on going. By the time we enter the bus for a long drive (usually with a couple of beers we begged for at the venue), one lucky bastard gets to be the DJ. The recipe is always the same: HITS. iPods are handed to the DJ from all sides as we loudly sing along to the jingles we all love so much. To share that feeling with you, we collected a handful of those hits. Close your eyes, enter the tourbus, and enjoy THE JOHN COFFEY TOURBUS EXPERIENCE.

Zornik will play an extensive tour of 30 shows to promote their new album … it will be different, exciting but still … Zornik.

244 Embryonic Journey

by The Cosmic Carnival

From the Cosmic to the Carnival. These songs tell our story from the very beginning up until where we are right now. Deep grooves and addictive drums, with a bit of reggae here and there. Blistering solos, and some psychedelic flavours. And there's this thing we have with harmony singing. No ‘80s or ’90s songs on this one, mate... The good stuff's timeless. Enjoy this fine selection wherever you are, whenever you want. Peace!

247 Unwind from the hustle and bustle

by iDOUBLEYOU

As a true music lover I listen to a varying range of music to unwind. Being active in the nightlife I love electronic music. For this mixed tape I choose a variety of post-modern classical music to chill wave and indie, from lo-fi to minimalistic of course with an electronic touch. So relax and unwind, forgetting the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
